According to the US special envoy to Sudan, the Sudanese government is no longer engaging in “a coordinated campaign of mass murder in Darfur,” and is no longer engaging in genocide.  On Tuesday, however, U.N. human rights investigator, Sima Samar, accused Sudan of continuing large scale attacks on civilians in Darfur, leading to controversy over the true status of the crisis in Darfur.
