(The Associated Press)  Former U.S. ambassador to Mauritania Edward Peck was aboard the attacked flotilla bringing aid to Gaza, but he is safe and expected home Tuesday, his wife said.  Mr. Peck, 81, is a resident of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and was traveling with members of the Free Palestine Movement.  Two other Americans were also on the attacked ship.  Joe Meadors, 63, from Corpus Christi, Texas is a Navy veteran; his wife believes he is safe, but communication has been difficult.  David Schermerhorn, 80, from Orcas Island, Washington, was aboard the ship as well, traveling with the Free Gaza Movement.  His daughter reported that he was taken into custody by Israeli officials and is not hurt.  At least nine have died in the attack, and many more are injured.  According to BBC News, almost all foreign activists currently held by Israel shall be deported by the end of today.
